We write this letter to you with great sadness and of a broken heart. We have no choice at this time but to leave the mission field of China and Southeast Asia and to return to the United States. Unfortunately our funding is at an all time low. It has been like this for sometime but we have held on for as long as we could. We have fought and will continue to fight the good fight of faith through our blood, sweat, and tears. We are returning to America to rebuild our funding and to make future plans of returning into China.
Just recently we launched the ministry of a Guesthouse Project and by faith we are believing to see this dream that we have carried so long in our hearts become a reality. The reality of returning to China, to do what God has called us to do. We know that considerable fundraising is needed for this project and for personal support. So we have decided to return to America to build the support for this project. We need to re-establish and strengthen our relationships with supporting churches and friends. We also need to expand our network of prayer and financial supporting groups. We have recently been blessed. We now have a 501 c-3 tax-exempt status for our guesthouse project. Praise God!
Does this mean that we are quitting and no longer doing mission work overseas. The answer is no, we are not quitting. We cannot just simply give up our calling to China and the mission that we have been given. We have hope of returning to China. We just donʼt know exactly when that will be. There are so many Chinese who live in the mountains, who have never heard the name of Jesus, who have never be introduced to Him, who are destined to go to Hell because they have never hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ preached. That is the harsh reality of the situation.
When we moved out of China, it was purely for financial reasons. We had no desire to leave China but we had to make a choice. We either leave the field all together or move to Thailand as a back up. As you know we chose Thailand. Our thoughts at that time were to regroup and work on raising funds and to do the occasional trip back into China from there. We have now been in Thailand for three years wanting to return to China but nothing much has changed in our situation. We simple cannot just keep on surviving without other resources for ministry.
Please continue to pray for us. We have many challenges ahead of us. We sold everything we owned as each of us joined the mission field. We had never planned on moving back to America or England. Asia has become our home for the past combined 16 years. We really need your help. We are already looking at spending a large amount of money just to move back to America, money that we do not have at this time. We are in need of about $5,000 - $6,000 for flights and to ship our personal belonging back to the United States. We have no home, no vehicle, and no jobs at this time. We also need to work on a permanent residency for Kerry. She is currently not legally allowed to work in America. We will continue to believe for Godʼs provision and direction.
In conclusion, we wish to thank each and every one of you who have and will continue to support this ministry. We love you and appreciate you all. Once back in America, we are looking forward to reconnecting with all of you. We are extremely sad about leaving Asia at this time but are excited to see where God is taking us in this new season in Him.
