We pray that all is going well with you. We have just recently returned from a trip into China. It was so amazing to be back where we belong in this world. It’s home, it’s where our heart is. China is a place that makes sense, even if no one else quite understands why. It had been four long years since our last trip in. Way too long to be away. So much has changed and yet so much has stayed the same. It is such a beautiful place, with such beautiful people.
During our travels, we spent a great deal of time visiting and seeing our persecuted brothers and sisters in Christ. We were able to visit with many of the local leaders (pastors) as well. We had been greatly missed. It was so wonderful to see each and every one of them again. I’m not sure if we miss them more or if it was the other way around. There were many smiles and hugs, much laughter and tears wherever we visited. There were tears of joy to be reunited again and tears of sadness because we could not stay. It was very difficult to leave the ones we love so much.
It was great to see how many of our friends have gotten married and now have children of their own. So Kerry and I now have many more new nieces and nephews to add to our family. Of course one of the things we are always asked is, “ You have baby yet?” It always brings a smile to our face and an explanation must be given. Just so you know, we are not having any, babies that is.
We were also able to visit a few of our foreign family members. I say a few because many have left and others are on their way. It’s mostly to do with finances. They just can’t get the funding they need to say. Unfortunately, missions have turned into a business more than a calling. In some cases, unless you have a lot of funding, organizations are either forcing them come home or dropping them completely.
Please keep the church in China in your prayers. They still fell the hand of persecution upon them. Don’t believe every thing you read or see. Just because the news says that China has loosened its grip on Christianity doesn’t mean it has. The grip has been slightly loosened at best. We have friends that we could not visit with in their home and had to visit elsewhere due to this very situation. They are being kept an eye one, if you know what I mean.
Please continue to keep us in your prayers as well. Our Thai visas expire in 45 days and will be heading somewhere of an unknown origin to live, still working out the details. Unless something else changes in the financial arena will be leaving Southeast Asia for the west by the 1st of September. We are still trusting and believing that God is going to make a way. He has called us to China and that is where our heart and lives belong. We wish to thank all of you for you prayers and financial support. Without the body of Christ, we could not and cannot continue to do the work that God has called us to do. In a field of 1.4 Billion ...
